How to Clean Your Ski Goggles

Sep 24, 2024

Proper care and regular cleaning will help you get the most out of your investment in high-performance snow goggles. Establishing careful habits with your goggles will ensure they’re ready for use the next time you click into your skis or snowboard. Whether you’re effortlessly snapping your lenses out with a pair of our Swiftlock goggles or enjoying intuitive, crisp clarity with our innovative LUMALENS® photochromatic goggles that adjust the changing light conditions, careful and frequent cleaning will extend the life of your eyewear and keep them in tip-top condition so you can enjoy them season after season.

Rinse with Water

Proper care doesn’t have to be too fancy. Simply run lukewarm water gently over your goggles to remove debris and dirt and resist the urge to rub the lens so as not to damage its coating. Using water that’s too warm could also damage the coating.

Use a Gentle Cleaner

For more stubborn residue on the outside of your goggle lens, try a mild and non-abrasive cleaner explicitly designed for eyewear, but avoid household cleaners or anything not intended for eyeglass care.

Clean with a Microfiber Cloth Dry

A paper towel or your shirt hem won’t do when it comes to anything that makes contact with your goggles lens. Use only microfiber cloths intended for cleaning eyewear and gently rub in a circular motion to avoid scratching.

Check for Scratches

Once your goggles are clean and before you stow them away, examine them carefully for damage to the lens. That way, the next time you use them, you don’t discover a scratch straight through your field of vision, rendering them useless at an inopportune time.

More Tips

Avoid Touching the Inside This side of the lens has an anti-fog coating you can easily damage with abrasive contact, so avoid touching the inside of your goggles.

Dry Thoroughly Storing your goggles with any moisture can damage the lenses, so be patient and allow your goggles to air dry thoroughly before stowing them safely in their case.

Store Carefully Protect your investment and be diligent about storing your snow goggles carefully in their case to protect them from scratches and damage and store in a dry, mild climate like your closet. Avoid leaving your goggles in the car, as the fluctuation in temperature can cause warping and deteriorate the padding. This tip applies to all eyewear, so if you have a pair of our AMPED goggle sunglasses, snag them from the car before you get out and store them in a cool, dry place between uses.
