The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate camp is proud to announce the dates for professional wakeboarder Shawn Watson to guest coach!

Shawn Watson started out his wakeboarding career receiving the rookie of the year award in 1999, and has consistently been on the podium since then. Watson has not only mastered his skills behind a boat, but is also one of the most stylish riders on rails. He is hosting the camp at The Projects because of its ability to cater to all ability levels and aspects of the sport.

Watson will be coaching at The Projects for the week of; April 12^th – April 16^th 2010.  Individuals that register for the Shawn Watson Camp will receive a welcoming package from his sponsors: Liquid Force, Billabong, Monster, Skull Candy, Dragon, Nautiques, Performance and Kustom Footwear. The camp will include three coached sessions each day, accommodations, meals, and airport transportation.

From time to time our athletes like to get outside there sport and have a little fun in others. Wakeboarders Shawn Watson, JD Webb and friends headed out for the Utah boat show and managed to get a little time on the snow at The Canyons and Park City.

JD Webb headed to the United Arab Emirates for the first Wakestock Abu Dhabi where he claimed a 1st place finish in pool gap contest and also took home some cash for landing one of the best tricks of the day in the Pro Jam,  his first ever Pete Rose, on the System 2.0 cable.

Dragon is stoked to announce the signing of Balaram Stack to a multi-year contract.  The 18 year old hails from NY and is one of the fastest rising stars of his generation.  He was in OZ for the last month on a wild  road trip to Snapper Pro with the Quik crew, headed up by Matt Hoy.  Now, he is setting his sights on the Junior Pro series events and photo trips for the summer.

Balaram has been described as “the complete package, coated with a distinctly smooth style, a fundamental grasp of strong, rail-to-rail surfing, and an instinctively perked ear for advice,” Stack is being heralded as the best surfer to ever emerge from the Empire State.

When he is home in NY, you will find him at his long time sponsor Unsound Surf Shop.  When he is in Hawaii, look for Balaram to be hunting for waves at Pipe and hanging at the Quik house with fellow Dragon rider, and house captain, Reef McIntosh and crew.

“I am stoked to be on the Dragon program and look forward to being part of a really solid team of surfers.  Dragon has been around for a long time and has a lot of momentum right now,” says Balaram.  “Plus, I am hoping this gets me a couple extra waves at Pipe from Reef and Shane next winter in Hawaii.”  No doubt though, he will still have to be taking out the trash and doing his chores at the Quik Pipe house.  His favorite Dragon’s are the Calacas and the Wormers, so check them out  Here.

Mick Fanning, Ace Buchan, Brett Simpson, and Owen Wright kicked off this year’s WCT Tour at Snapper. We caught a few shots of them in between heats and will have more from this year’s Oz season as it progresses.

Unfortunately, none of the boys won the event (see aspworldtour.com for results) but it is still early in the season. Dragon has one of the most stacked teams in the world, so keep watch with us this year.
